Children’s Ministry Philosophy:
Pathway Children’s Ministry exists to share the love of Jesus with children and their families in an environment that is safe and enriching. Children are encouraged to grow in their strengths, they are loved through their weaknesses and they have the opportunity to develop relationships with teachers and peers. We desire to partner and support parents as they grow in their relationship with God by providing their children with a place that is purposeful, age-appropriate and fun.
Our programming is as follows:
Sunday School during 1st service provides Pre-K through 6th grade students with a study through the Bible, starting with Creation in Fall and ending with the early church movement in Spring. Regular attendance is encouraged, as students have the opportunity to memorize scripture, learn about important Bible figures, learn how the Bible is organized and get a good overview of both Old Testament and New Testament teachings. Also, students in Sunday school are separated by age groups: Pre-K and Kinder, 1st and 2nd grade, 3rd and 4th grade and 5th and 6th grade. They have the same few teachers for the entire school year, so it is a great time for them to develop mentors. We use Heart Shaper curriculum in Sunday School.
Children’s Church during 2nd service is a lighter program. It is more focused on Life Skills and incorporates more time for singing, games, crafts and socializing. We work on our Christmas and Easter programs during 2nd hour. The students are not separated by age group, therefore 1st-6th grades work together. However, on occasion, they do break into small groups of 1st-3rd and 4th -6th grades for more focused instruction. Children’s Church is primarily staffed by college and high school students working in 1-3 month rotations. We use a variety of curriculum for Children’s Church including, but not limited to KidMo, Kids Sunday School online and a variety of Group Publications. Children’s Church is a lot of fun, but it is designed to work in conjunction with your child’s regular attendance in Sunday School. Children’s Church in isolation is limited in its ability to foster deep spiritual growth. If at all possible, please try to make an effort to get your Pre-K through 6th grade students to Sunday School.
Adventure Club is designed to provide a mid-week opportunity for your child to learn more about Jesus, grow in their confidence, develop social skills and learn how to reach out to others. Adventure Club is totally FREE, a child can join at any point in the school year and there is always room for new friends. We focus on two service projects a year and we usually take 2-3 field trips a year (for a nominal fee). We provide t-shirts for our regular participants and provide incentives for attendance, good behavior and bringing out new friends. Our desire is to positively impact the families in our community in Jesus’ Name.
