Who Are the Pathway Christian Cruisers? In 2007, we held a car show at Pathway Christian Church and had a good turnout with almost 50 cars attending. Following that event, an informal group of us began to attend some of the car shows in Riverside and surrounding areas. We had around 4- 6 cars at most shows and if everyone showed up at the same event, we would have about 10-12 cars. In those cars we have probably the most diverse grouping of cars you could imagine with Classics, Hot Rods, Micro cars and Muscle cars all represented. Some of the cars are very clean originals while others are in the process of being restored and still others are beautiful restorations. From 13 cubic inches to 427 cubic inches we have both ends of the horsepower spectrum covered. We printed up some Pathway Christian Church front license plates to use to identify ourselves at the shows. And then we began to win some trophies, lots and lots of them, actually. I think almost all of us won at least one trophy and some others have won multiple trophies. We have heard rumors of some of our folks building new shelves to hold all their trophies. From the prestigious Fab 50’s Race Car Concourse in Redondo Beach, to the John Force Show in Anaheim, to the local shows in Riverside and the surrounding communities, we met a lot of folks, had a lot of fun and won a lot of awards. We have a diverse group of cars, car lovers and ages represented. Some of the teenage car buffs from our church have been hanging out with us at the shows, too. So this provided a fun time of fellowship with other members of our church as well as a chance to meet lots of fellow car enthusiasts. The purpose of our group is to introduce others to Christ and to invite them to our church where they can find a support system for healthy and joyful living. And we can enjoy the car hobby together at the same time. |
