People often say that God is loving and forgiving. And they're right.

 

That not only tells us about God, but it says something important about us. We want to be loved as only God can love us. And we need to be forgiven as only God can forgive us.

 

God has always loved you. You can't make Him love you more by being good. And you can't make Him love you less by doing bad. God is love (1 John 4:8). Our behavior doesn't change that fact.

 

However, unforgiven sin blocks our connection with God. It's like having a serious conflict that goes unresolved with a spouse or a good friend. That wall prevents close connection. The same is true with God.

 

What's worse is that there's nothing we can do from our side to break through this wall, so God stepped in to fix the problem. You know the verse: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). God shows His love for you by taking the steps necessary for you to reconnect with Him.

 

He has extended the invitation. It's up to us to accept it. And when we do that opens  the door to a life of deeper meaning, purpose, and passion.
